This was a birthday gift. We had spent two weeks in the Dordogne region of France while the poppies were blooming, but we never saw a whole field wildly ablaze with color. On my birthday, I wished for this opportunity, which came two weeks later as we were leaving Provence en route to Barcelona. You could just imagine one of the French impressionist painters setting up their easel to paint this scene 100 years before. In fact, this field was outside Les Baux not far from Arles, where Vincent Van Gogh spend his final years.
